We were asked to analyze a blog post or news item to help us prepare Proximitys spring focus group. Below is a summary of the DigitalBeat article “Why iPad will sell despite “missing”(extra quotation) features that explains the missing features and why they did not include it in the new iPad.
Why will the iPad sell with missing features Just hours after the release of the new apple iPad last week, it under took huge criticism. The criticism about the iPad was in several factors; why is there no camera, no phone, no flash support, and doesn’t allow multitasking.(The complaints came from several areas. The criticism was aimed at why there was no multitasking, camera, phone, and flash support on the iPad).Despite all these missing features, Saad Fazil of DigitalBeat believes the iPad will still sell.
Why did apple leave out so many features Money revenue: · Doesn’t want to sell too many of one product at the expense of others o Making the iPad with every feature would take away revenue from their other products o More features=More cost. Most cost=Higher price tag · The thought of “more features could cause more things to go wrong”(delete " ") o Adding more features could increase the size and performance.
Possible Questions To determine if the iPad will still sell, we have to ask these kinds of (delete) questions: o Is apple starting all these “trends” to just dig more and more money out of our pockets into theirs? o Are apples intentions to leave out certain features to boost other sales of their products ethical? o Why NOT have a product that does it all?
